On a beautiful snowy Montreal evening, four talented emerging recording artists performed at RAC’s 3rd Edition Showcase on December 17th at Sala Rossa. With sounds ranging from indie folk to indie-rock to pop-punk, all four bands demonstrated undeniable talent, upholding Montreal’s reputation as one of the world’s hottest music talent hubs.

We would like to congratulate Foreign Diplomats, who brought home the top prize with their rock-solid, dance-driven performance. The Diplomats fired up the crowd early on in the night, and in the process won a free recording session in RAC Montreal’s studios. The band is looking forward to starting work on it’s upcoming album, to be released in the summer of 2014.

We have to acknowledge impressive performances by Stefanie Parnell, Eliza, and Amasic. These bands made the event a great success, satisfying a full house carrying high expectations. The panel of judges, consisting of some of Montreal’s most accomplished album producers, studio owners, and industry representatives, were all impressed with the talent on display. All acts walked away with a prize and valuable constructive feedback from this group of highly insightful professionals. At RAC, we’re delighted to help bring new audiences and industry exposure to these artists.

A big hand has to go out to the production crew, made up of Recording Arts Canada students. The sound, lighting, staging, and great tunes between sets was impressive, efficient and highly professional. The experience gained from working with such talented bands is of great value to our students. As RAC instructor and “production mentor” JP Nault says,  “I have been involved at RAC since 2010 and I have seen many great students and lived numerous memorable experiences.  This was a great one.” Thanks JP, for guiding the RAC student screw and all the great tips!

Lastly, but not least, we’d like to thank everyone who came out to see the performances, including the judges, the technical team of students from Recording Arts Canada’s Sound and Music Recording Program, the supportive staff at Sala Rossa, and as well to MTL Blog and Bucketlist Music Reviews for covering the event.

This was just one of many exciting events hosted by RAC, all with the aim of helping build bridges to the industry and successful careers for both emerging recording artists and Recording Arts Canada students.
