We are pleased to announce the bands selected to perform at RAC’s 6th Concert Showcase on July 9th at Sala Rossa. Static Gold, Farewell Davidson, Chair Warriors and The Vare will all perform on the main stage. You are invited to come out to hear and see some incredibly talented indie bands. The show is staged is by RAC students, and well attended by industry professionals, so it’s a great night of entertainment and networking for everyone in attendance.

Static Gold band members Samuel Chaco Kohn (Keys), Daniel Pombo (guitar) and Zaya Solange (vocals) all come from different parts of the world, respectively hailing from France/Sweden, Colombia and Haiti/US. They met while collaborating on a Montreal musical project known as Galvao. Through that collaboration, they formed Static Gold, teaming up with talented musicians Louis Souverain (drums), Thomas Viardot (bass) and Beth Mckenna (tenor sax, flute, clarinet) shortly after.

Elements of jazz, funk and soul have created what the band call it’s Funkadelic Swing sound. Static Gold has played many Montreal venues, including Les Bobards to Le National and Club Soda. The band’s fans base support played a significant role in the recording of their debut album “Speaking Easy”, which was released in May. Fans raised the funds to record the album with George Doxas  through a Kickstarter campaign. That production also led to working with a quartet of talented jazz musicians from the McGill Schulich School of Music: Christopher Vincent (Trombone),Kaz Takasugi (Trumpet), Chris Maskell (Alto Sax), and Michael Hsu (Violin).

Band Members are: Zaynab “Zaya” Solange: Vocals, Daniel Pombo: Guitar, Samuel Chaco Kohn: Keys, Thomas Viardot: Bass, Beth Mckenna: Tenor/Alto sax, clarinet, flute, Louis “LoudHands” Souverain: Drums

Farewell Davidson is a constantly evolving band of four hard-working and ambitious Ottawa musicians.  The band released their debut EP entitled “Hometown Lights”, containing six original tracks ranging from ambient indie to straight up Rock & Roll. The band is known for its versatile yet distinctly energic sound loaded with memorable hooks.

“Hometown Lights” was recorded at Studio 169 with producer Bryan Ruckstuhl (who produced YouTube sensation Julia Dales). The EP draws influences from artists such as Tokyo Police Club and Jack White. It has received airplay on radio stations across North America and Europe. The bands single, “Late Night News”, received a resounding endorsement from Alan Cross, a notable Canadian radio broadcaster and journalist, in a segment called “I Like This”.

Farewell Davidson has played at several well-known venues such as The Divan Orange in Montreal, and The Blacksheep Inn in Wakefield, and have shared the stage with artists such as Toronto-based band Teenage Kicks and Big Money Shot winners The Strain and Autumns Cannon. The band also gets behind causes they believe in, such as Tony’s Promise and Do it for Daron, by playing benefits and raising awareness about these issues. The band is working on their second EP, and are continuously striving to deliver energetic performances, write meaningful songs and most importantly, to challenge themselves artistically . Band members are: Ryan Wiles – Lead Vocals & Guitar, Zac Liberty – Lead Guitar, Alex Claro – Bass, Victor Antunes – Drums.

Chair Warriors is a band devoted to writing and performing thoughtful and creative music that appeals to wide range of music listeners. Chair Warriors recorded their debut EP “A Thousand Words” in 2011 with veteran producer/engineer Glen Robinson, whose credits include Keith Richards, The Ramones, and Dave Grohl. The album features the band’s trademark melodic, modern-rock sound, and was released in the summer of 2012.

“With our musical skill and a deep appreciation for the art of songwriting, our goal is to entertain every listener. We aim to capture your hearts, minds and souls and take you on a unique journey using the power of song.” Traces of Muse, Silversun Pickups, Coldplay, Shinedown, The Smashing Pumpkins and several other great bands can be detected in various songs. This is a band you are sure to like. Band Members are: Brandon Mignacca (vocals & keyboards),
Robert Flis (Guitars & vocals), Gopal Devanathan (drums)

The Vare is a very talented indie/pop band from Montreal, Canada. With influences that range from hard rock, folk, metal, and jazz, The Vare has cleverly combined these diverse tastes to create a new twist to indie/pop.  Memorable piano riffs and moody guitar lines are interwoven with vulnerable lyrics and melodies. The Vare has a sound that has been compared to Coldplay and Local Natives. The band puts on a very intense and entertaining live show, which we’re certain you’ll enjoy.

Band members are: Mikey Desjardins (Vocals, Guitar, Drums), Gabriel Dennis (Drums, Vocals, Piano), Jeffrey Lauber (bass, guitar), Lucas Liberatore (guitar, bass, piano, vocals).
