About our institution

RAC operates two accredited post-secondary private colleges and a world renowned music production organization. With campuses in downtown Montreal and Toronto and additional studios in the Laurentians and British Columbia, RAC has recorded Grammy winning albums and dozens of internationally successful artists, and launched the careers of passionate students from around the world for 33 years. For those who thrive in a world of music, creativity and technology, we provide the tools, environment, and network needed to launch a career in sound and music.

 


 


Career days & live streams

Career days at RAC feature studio demonstrations on music recording, mixing, production, beat-making, sampling, sound for film, and more. If your school cannot physically attend a career day, live-stream seminars are available.

Best Song Contest for high school students

Winners of the best song award, as judged by music industry pros, will receive a recording and mixing session at Recording Arts Canada. The value of this prize is $3,000.

Our one-year intensive Sound and Music Recording program is built to give aspiring creators the tools, mentorship, collaboration opportunities, and professional network they need to take the next step as creative entrepreneurs.

Create, publish, and market you own EP within the core curriculum.

 

 

Students obtaining an RAC education can expect to:

 
  • Receive specialized training on their chosen instrument (major).
  • Receive 360 degree training through the core music production curriculum.
  • Build an immediate network of potential collaborators and colleagues.
  • Exclusive access to RAC Workshops with industry gurus and Grammy-winning masters.
  • Produce and coordinate three live concerts.
  • Join our creator network called RAC Collective.
  • Have access to studios, A&R, distribution, and marketing services in the future.

In addition to the curriculum, RAC students have exclusive access to these amazing resources.

 


Workshops

Industry masters, including Grammy-winning producers and engineers, come to RAC to share their knowledge and scout for emerging talent. Featuring seminars, Q&As, cyphers, and mixing and networking sessions, RAC workshops have been host to several Grammy-winning producers, engineers, artists, as well as program hosts, festival programmers, and radio producers.

Finding your way alone in the industry is extremely difficult. At RAC, you have the unique benefit of joining an already-established and diverse web of like-minded creators. Our ever-growing network of artists, producers, engineers, beat-makers, and sound recordists across all genres gives you an instant family of talented potential collaborators and cross-promoters.

Publishing & Management

Before you leave RAC and with the help of our organization, you'll have created, produced, mixed, mastered, and released your own project as part of the curriculum provided. You'll have your own artist website, a profile on RAC's platform, and a social media presence. We also offer post-graduation artist development, A&R, and distribution services to those who qualify.

RAC's facilities have been used by internationally acclaimed artists including Shania Twain, Michael Bolton, Sarah MacLachlan and Le Cirque du Soleil. Our studios feature the best digital and analogue technologies available. Our "Dolby® certified Surround Mixing" Theatres and Foley Studio have hosted acclaimed film clients such as The Matrix Reloaded (Warner Bros IMAX), Skulls III (Universal Pictures), and Space Station (IMAX).
